If you've driven through Wake Forest lately, you've probably noticed something – this town is GROWING. Not just with new subdivisions, but with game-changing developments that are completely transforming our community.

As someone who helps families find their perfect Triangle home, I'm excited to share the biggest projects coming to Wake Forest and how they might impact you. Let's dive in!

Exciting New Developments

Wake Forest has secured a $13.2 million federal grant to build a multi-modal transportation hub in downtown. This multi-story station will be part of the S-Line passenger rail system connecting us to Raleigh and eventually to Richmond and Washington DC. For anyone who's endured that Capitol Boulevard rush hour commute, this will be a game-changer when it's completed in 2030!

After 7 years of planning, UNC Health Rex has filed plans to build a 50-bed hospital on Capitol Boulevard. With 20 acute care beds, two operating rooms, and 500 new jobs, this means Wake Forest families won't have to drive to Raleigh for hospital care anymore.

Costco lovers rejoice! A new location is coming to 400 Lowes Avenue near the US-1 and Highway 98 interchange, complete with a gas station. No more driving to Raleigh or Durham for those bulk shopping trips!

Retail & Residential Growth

Phase 2 of Grove 98 is bringing new dining and fitness options to Highway 98 and Capitol Boulevard. We're getting O2 Fitness, several spa options, BiBiBop Asian Grill, Piada Italian Street Food, Five Guys, and Dave's Hot Chicken, with rumors of Burger Fi and Firebirds joining too.

Downtown is getting a 20,000-square-foot food hall with local vendors and a 3-acre green space for events. As part of this project, Stanley Martin Homes is building 110 Magnolia Trace Condominiums ranging from 1,500-2,500 square feet starting in the low $300,000s.

Several new neighborhoods are under development across Wake Forest, including Kinsley Subdivision (mid $300,000s), Rosedell Subdivision ($400,000s-$500,000s), Holding Village with its 15-acre lake, and Forestville Station opening early 2025. I've noticed smaller footprints for both homes and lots throughout these communities, reflecting changing buyer preferences across the Triangle.

Other projects include the Wake Forest Exchange bringing 166,000 square feet of Class A commercial space, Thales Academy's new high school, and expansions to our greenway system.

Looking Forward

Wake Forest is evolving into a self-sufficient community where residents can increasingly live, work, shop, and play without traveling to Raleigh. For current residents, these changes mean more convenience. For potential newcomers, you're looking at a community that offers small-town charm with increasingly impressive amenities.

The challenge will be balancing this growth with the character that makes Wake Forest special. But I'm optimistic that thoughtful planning will preserve what we love while embracing positive change.

If you're considering relocating to Wake Forest, I'd love to help you navigate these exciting changes and find your perfect neighborhood. Feel free to reach out anytime!

Till next time, y'all!
