Top 10 Best Neighborhoods in Apex North Carolina - Everyone's Moving To These Areas!
Apex has become one of the fastest-growing areas in the Triangle, with new communities and construction continuously transforming this vibrant town. Whether you're a young professional, a growing family, or looking for the perfect retirement spot, Apex offers something special for everyone. With an estimated population of 75,000 and the well-earned nickname "the peak of good living," this town was even featured in Money Magazine as the best place to live in the US. Let me share the top neighborhoods that are drawing buyers from across the country to this charming suburb just outside Raleigh.
The West Side Renaissance
The increased growth in Apex has pushed much of the new development westward, bringing fresh communities like Bella Casa, new infrastructure including Friendship High School, and major commercial developments. The closer you get to Route 1 or downtown, the more developed the area becomes, while heading west or south gives you that peaceful rural feel many buyers crave.
1. Bella Casa: Resort-Style Living at Its Finest
Bella Casa sits on the west side of Apex and has become incredibly popular for good reason. Just minutes from Beaver Creek Commons for shopping and dining, about 10 minutes from Jordan Lake, and 20 minutes from Research Triangle Park, the location can't be beat. Built between 2006 and 2022 with new construction still underway, this community offers three swimming pools, tennis courts, and sits adjacent to my favorite spot, Apex Nature Park.
Homes here range from $500,000 to $1.4 million, offering 3 to 6 bedrooms spanning 1,800 to 6,400 square feet. While some lots are compact at 0.10 to 0.15 acres, other sections offer a third to half an acre, with prices jumping to $700,000 and above for these larger properties.
2. Abingdon: Custom Luxury Living
If you're looking for custom homes with top-tier amenities, Abingdon's 433 custom residences deliver. Located on the west side with easy access to highways 540 and 64, you're minutes from shops, restaurants, Jordan Lake, and RTP. Built between 1998 and 2008, these 3 to 6-bedroom homes range from 2,100 to 5,400 square feet, priced between $550,000 and $1.5 million. The community pool and perfect balance of suburbia meets big-city amenities make this a standout choice.
3. Crockett's Ridge: Rural Charm, Urban Access
For those seeking a more rural community feel, Crockett's Ridge offers the perfect compromise. Also on the west side, homes typically sell between $490,000 and $540,000. Built from 1998 to 2006, these 3 to 5-bedroom homes range from 1,880 to 3,570 square feet on lots between 0.17 and 0.25 acres. The west side of Apex is expected to see significant appreciation over the next couple of decades, with some estimating growth similar to what happened around RTP.
4. Haden Hall: Variety for Every Lifestyle
Just seven miles from Cary and close to downtown Apex, Haden Hall offers something unique with its mix of single-family homes, townhomes, and condos. Built between 1995 and 2009, you'll find 2 to 6-bedroom options ranging from 1,000 to 5,800 square feet, priced from $275,000 to $925,000. Most lots are just under a quarter-acre, though some reach a third of an acre.
5. Carriage Oaks: Location, Location, Location
This charming community feels secluded while sitting just minutes from Beaver Creek's 32+ stores, including Target, movie theaters, and numerous restaurants. Built between 2002 and 2005, these cozy homes on tree-lined streets offer both townhomes and single-family options, many backing to woods or ponds. Priced between $325,000 and $400,000, homes range from 1,400 to 2,250 square feet with 3 to 4 bedrooms on smaller lots averaging 0.10 to 0.20 acres.
6. Salem Oaks: No HOA Freedom
This darling area south of Haden Hall contains just 45 homes within walking distance of downtown Apex, and here's the kicker – no HOA! Built in 1997-1998, these 1,400 to 3,400 square-foot homes recently sold between $675,000 and just over $700,000. Lot sizes average a quarter to a third of an acre, and homes feature wraparound porches, hardwood floors, fireplaces, and beautiful tray ceilings.
7. Greyhawk Landing: Luxury and Space
For those seeking luxurious homes with generous space, Greyhawk Landing in southeast Apex delivers. Built from 2006 to 2015, these 4 to 5-bedroom homes range from just under 5,000 to 5,400 square feet on lots from a third of an acre to 1.3 acres, priced up to $1.3 million. The quick drive to Route 1 makes commuting a breeze.

The resort-style living includes a charming village center for shopping and dining, with downtown Apex less than a mile away.
10. Scotts Laurel: Best of Both Worlds
